Being pregnant is truly a magical experience. For ten months your body grows another human being from two cells. You eagerly pick out names with your spouse, pick out the colors for the nursery, pick out the perfect stroller and car seat at Target, and dream about how amazingly adorable your new baby will be. Life is perfect as you eagerly await the day that you can welcome your new bundle of joy into the world.
Or at least that’s how it goes in the latest edition of “Fit Pregnancy.” For you, pregnancy doesn’t look at all like this. Once you are done puking your guts out in the first trimester, you develop crippling lower back pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatic nerve pain, neck pain, and hip pain. (Hopefully, you don’t get all of these at once, but these are very common for a lot of pregnant women.)
“Don’t worry” says your OB, “those are all a normal part of pregnancy.” Suddenly your dream pregnancy is becoming a nightmare, and the only tools at your disposal to cope with all this pain are Tylenol and the countdown of days until your pregnancy is over.
I am here to tell you that none of this has to be true. Your pregnancy can be a great experience. Headaches, lower back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatic nerve pain, neck pain, and hip pain ARE NOT NORMAL in pregnancy.
I have seen countless women get great relief and have terrific pregnancies (and labor and delivery) with chiropractic care.
Chiropractic care is very safe for pregnant women. There are no known contraindications to chiropractic care during pregnancy, meaning you can get chiropractic care throughout your pregnancy.
I adjusted my wife throughout her triplet pregnancy. She made it to 35 weeks gestation which is almost unheard of with triplets. One of the biggest reasons we feel she made it that far is chiropractic care.
My wife has specialized training, beyond what chiropractors already receive in chiropractic college, in dealing with pregnant patients. Our whole office is set up to be family friendly. So rest assured you are good hands with us.
